Interim Chair Update

4 Apr

Just to give you the latest update on where we now stand.   I had a very productive meeting with Jim Thomson, on Monday, to discuss any outstanding issues.  The main topics covered were:

  1. MEMBERSHIP LIST
  2. DATA CONTROLLER
  3. BANK ACCOUNTS
  4. LOTTERY
  5. WEBSITE
  6. SAST ACCOUNTS
  7. SOLICITORS
  8. MINUTES OF AGM
  9. CHILD WELLBEING & PROTECTION INQUIRY
  10. APPOINTMENT OF NEW TB

As Jim has stood down from the Trust Board he cannot be ‘Acting Secretary’ but he has offered to help me through the ‘interim period’, where he can.  To that end he has agreed to send out notification of the SGM to all SAST Members.  You should receive that shortly.

On Thursday, last week, I spoke with a lady at the FCA who advised me to send an email to them explaining the SAST’s situation.  This I did, and followed that up by phoning again on Tuesday.  I spoke with two people from the Mutual Societies Team, who admitted this is an unusual set of circumstances.  However, as I was elected as Interim Chair at a properly constituted meeting of the SAST Board and Members, held on Monday the 26th March 2018, I am legally able to call an SAST Special General Meeting, for the sole purpose of electing a new SAST Board.  This will be held in The Golden Lion Hotel, Stirling on Wednesday 2nd May 2018 @ 7.30pm.  Along with the letter officially notifying you of the meeting, there will be an SAST Nomination Form for those who wish to stand for election as a Trustee (Board Member).  I have updated this form to include asking Nominees to provide information for SAST Members about ‘the reason they would like to stand for election to the Trust Board’ and ‘what skills they feel they could bring.’  The reason for this is, to help inform all SAST Members about who is standing and to help them decide who they would like their representatives to be on the Trust Board.

I’ve had many offers of help, which I really appreciate, but have yet to identify what help is really required.  I somehow think that once the SGM letters go out then I will be taking up some of those offers!!

Once again, thank you for your patience and allowing me to follow through on the inquiries I’ve had to make.  I know it will be worth it in the end, as we move forward together and continue our support of the wonderful, family friendly, Stirling Albion FC.  C’mon the Binos!
